Johnny's Rant

I never played proper Dungeons and Dragons when I was a kid, with the manuals and character sheets and everything. I played a version where the Dungeon Master would just make everything up, and you would role six sided dice whenever you wanted to try something fancy, like attack a monster or tea bag a corpse. I tried playing by the official rules as an adult, and frankly my version is a lot faster and more fun. I hate games that take a ton of time to setup.

My favourite game of all time, in terms of board games, is Fireball Island. My mom sold my original board at a garage sale when I was a teen, along with my original deluxe die cast metal Optimus Prime figure, both of which I re-obtained thanks to eBay and the North American culture of hoarding.

If you've never played Fireball Island, it's an Indiana Jones type combination of Snakes and Ladders & Trouble, all on a 3-D island play set with a monster idol at the top that hails fireballs down upon thee. It's the greatest. If you love games do yourself a favour and track a copy down. However, don't say I didn't warn you that it won't fit on a shelf. #FireballIsland
