Sad Sacks s01e31 - Number Juan Dad

At the park ...
James (to kid): I've given you the tools you need to get anything you want in life, now it's up to you.
Sack: Who's kid is that?
James: I have no idea.
Sack: But you gave him a machete?
James: Only a dull one.

Closeup on dull machete in grass as they walk away ...
Sack: Isn't this the dull one?
James: It sure is pal. It sure is.

Johnny's Rant

Monday, March 16, 2015

I've noticed there are a lot of sweet father/son comics online these days, which is not really my thing, I blame family circus. Today's comic is my spin on that genre.

When I think back on the advice I got as a kid, especially from strange adults that may or may not have owned a van with "free candy" crudely spray painted on the side, I'm surprised that I'm still alive to write this. I'm old enough to be part of generation "come home when it gets dark" also known as generation "got a huge cut? Rub some dirt on it". We were free back then, in a more innocent time. For example, I thought I broke my legs once when I fell off of the school roof (don't worry why I was up there) and the teacher actually said "man up!" to me, to which I replied, "I'm only nine!". I never forgot that.

I got a lot of good advice as a kid too, but all of it was from television. I would like to thank my tv roll model, tv dad, tv brother, tv babysitter, and tv best friend. Magnum PI, Mr. Belvedere, Leave it to Beaver, Charles in Charge, and Saved by the Bell. #FreeCandyVan.
