Johnny's Rant

Video games have always been a hot button issue in my life, and I don't mean the whole "gamer gate" stuff that's been happening lately, it was more innocent when I was a kid. The issue then was Nintendo vs. Sega.

Personally, I'm a Nintendo guy. I still remember opening my NES on christmas morning in 1986, almost thirty years ago, as one of the greatest moments of my entire life. I went on to play almost every title Nintendo ever released, and beat all but a few. The original Mario Bros and Zelda are easily the greatest video games ever made. If you're going to try and compare those to a blue weasel that runs after rings without any obstacles in his path, you're a crazy person. What did he need those rings for anyway? Was it some kind of message about marriage? I'm confused. Maybe he traded them for fresh red sneakers. Sonic sucks.

These days I love indie games. Give me an original game like Dfragmente, with cool graphics and an actual requirement of some slick timing and hand to eye coordination, and I'm hooked. Just don't start playing it at work or you won't get anything else done. Oh, and send the developer some props on twitter if you love it. @hexdie
